I have a theory that Martha Wayne used to secretly go clubbing on the town using the pseudonym "Kathy Roland", and it was something she said one night while doing this <Mary Reilly> that led to her and Thomas Wayne's fatal encounter with Joey Chill, not Thomas Wayne's testimony against the gang boss Lew Moxon several decades before; does anyone know if there is evidence in the comic book literature to support this hypothesis?
Update 08/06/2012: It may have had something to do with her t-shirt is a competing theory that has emerged.

Either that, or she failed to report for jury duty. At this point, I'm giving both hypotheses equal weight until I have a chance to research the literature.
ReplyDeleteUPDATE 08/06/2012: I found some evidence for the jury duty hypothesis left in the bushes of the parking lot of my apartment complex, but unfortunately, the comic is an old, reading copy with the cover and the first couple of pages torn off, so I'm holding off updating my Bayesian prior on the two hypotheses until I can determine the title and number of the comic and look a little further into the matter.
ReplyDeleteUPDATE: I recently had a conversation with Gotham City's most talented and experienced homicide investigator, and it turns out that the leading theory (which the department was keeping under wraps until they had their conclusive proof) was that Martha Wayne was secretly Johnny Rocco holed up in stately Wayne Manor and terrorizing the surrounding community members; according to the homicide investigator, Joey Chill was covertly awarded Gotham City's Key to the City as a reward to his civic service, so that's nice. #haveyoueverREADanactuarialreport?!
ReplyDeleteWow; it's amazing how prophetic this was.
